T.R.E stands for Tension and Trauma Release Exercises - the most tender and yet the most powerful approach to somatic healing I have come across. In the last ten to fifteen years the awareness that experienced trauma as stress and tension is also stored in the body has become more common knowlegde. There are lots of somatic practices out there and I have tried quiet a few. None of them has worked the magic that T.R.E has for me. The changes for the better for my body, my mind and my wellbeing have been enormous. I knew almost immediately, after my first couple of sessions with a practitioner 3 years ago, that this was a modality I wanted to learn and be able to share. I am now as of 2 weeks ago a certified T.R.E practitioner, hurray!

I spent many years in therapy with some exceptional therapists, which really helped me make sense of and come to terms with a lot of the things I have experienced in my life time, on a mental level. T.R.E has helped my body understand and release the stress and tension that was stored physically. This release has freed up an exceptional amount of energy that I never thought I would experience again. It has been a gamechanger in helping me bring my nervoussystem back to a fully regulated state.

TRE a Natural Method Revisited
T.R.E is a practice that activates our inbuilt natural tremoring mechanism. The tremoring response is the body’s natural way of releasing tension. Our pets do it all the time. Notice the first thing your dog does about a minute after feeling scared, it will literally shake it off. From head to tail.
T.R.E was developed following the observation that all mammals, including humans, trigger biological self-rehabilitation mechanisms based on neurogenic tremor after trauma (e.g. a racehorse after a fall, a gazelle after a chase: a human after a car accident). The TRE method was developed in the United States by Dr. David Berceli with the aim of facilitating the release of deep neurological and muscular tension in a simple and painless way.
The practice is a combination of 7 simple exercises that safely activate the natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating and this releases muscular tension and returns the nervous system back to a state of calm and balance.
What I love about T.R.E
T.R.E is a unique practice, a healing modality that leaves the mind to take a back seat. T.R.E allows the inate intelligence of the body to take center stage.
Because T.R.E is a body lead practice, the narratives also take a back seat. We leave the stories of our past in the past, focusing during sessions solely on what we feel in our bodies. We become reacquainted with our bodies.
It is very important to start your T.R.E journey with a practitioner to learn the ropes. There is a lot more to this practice than meets the eye. An added beauty about T.R.E is that once you have mastered the technique, you can continue your practice at home on your own. You don’t need any fancy equipment, just yourself, the floor, soft clothes and some quiet time.
This practice is for Every One, for every body – young as well as old.
T.R.E is a gentle practice and can be adapted to all ages and all physicalities.
T.R.E is very easy to learn in individual or group sessions and intergrates easily with other practices.
